How long have you worked for RESPONSE?

I started on 1 June 2010.

What training and development have you had during your career with RESPONSE?

I’ve attended workshops on Effective Communications, Attendance Management and the new Pay & Grading process.  I was also given a secondment to the Operations Manager role on 1 September 2010.

How has your career developed?

I applied for the Operations Manager secondment when I saw it advertised on our Intranet.  I went through the recruitment process and Assessment Centre for the role.  I was given the secondment then asked if I wanted to stay in the role permanently and was appointed Operations Manager on 1 January 2011.

Tell us about your current role and what you enjoy about it

I am stretched every single day.  Although my previous role with the bank had the same job title, this role is very different.  I am learning new things: budgets and finance.  I enjoy working with the client and building relationships.  I enjoy getting to know people in all the different departments.  I enjoy developing my Team Managers - it’s lovely to see them grow.

What do you like best about RESPONSE as an employer?

It’s not as hierarchical as the bank.  I like the fact we can have a conversation rather than doing everything by email.  I love the fact that you can progress in the organisation.  I like how we are upfront and I love our Company Values.

What’s the proudest or most rewarding experience you’ve had at RESPONSE?

I now understand finance.  At first I was bamboozled, but I got support from my manager and my finance colleague which really helped – now I get it!
