Roy Wilson / Payroll Assistant
Over 8 years
I had advisor training when I worked in Sky Customer Services. When I moved to the Administrator role I had training in our Kronos system. I’ve had training on Excel, Return to Work interviews, NICE call recording system and general communications
I was appointed to the Administrator role which was a new role in RESPONSE and I had the opportunity to develop and grow the role. The Payroll Assistant role was advertised on our Intranet, I applied for it and was successful.

It’s very varied, although there are routine processes in place too. I have to match what was paid to people against what is in our systems and investigate any anomalies to find out the reasons why they are different.
They are always looking for ways to improve things; they introduced bonuses, and the staff discount vouchers which I’ve used. We recently introduced pay and grading, an incentive which recognises and rewards behaviours. It’s always a step in the right direction. I also like the variety of clients we have.
My current role. It’s a step to a new umbrella of things. There’s a lot more to it and I get stretched and learn new things.
