Charity fundraising

PDFPrint

yorkhill_clrAt RESPONSE we regularly enjoy supporting local charities through staff fundraising initiatives. This year we decided to focus our fundraising efforts on one charity.

Supporting a local community charity

Following a company-wide vote, our staff chose Yorkhill Children’s Foundation as this year’s charity partner. Yorkhill has provided support to many of our employees’ families, and is a charity close to many hearts.

We’ve now eagerly set course to raise an ambitious target of £20,000.

The money raised will be put towards in-patient simultaneous EEG/Video telemetry equipment, which is used to help diagnose children with epilepsy, one of the most common serious neurological disorders of childhood. It will be placed in Yorkhill’s Fraser of Allander Neurosciences Unit in Glasgow, and will allow the team there to provide gold standard treatment to children with epilepsy.

Fundraising events

We have planned a number of events  to help us achieve our £20,000 target – all of which put the meaning of ‘fun’ into fundraising!  So far:

  • Over £1000 raised by eleven fit members of staff who pulled on their trainers for the Great Scottish Run
  • £2100 raised by our ‘Reach for the Stars’ singing competition.  Congratulations to our winner George Campbell, one of our learning and development specialists, for his amazing piano solo
  • £2200 raised by ten brave members of staff on a fire and glass walk. Testing mind and body against the elements, the team tackled a 20ft-long bed of wood embers burning at 1236 degrees Fahrenheit!

There are many more events and activities to follow… make sure you check out our photos on Flickr!
