RESPONSE staff help raise money to help brave terminally ill boy.
Leading customer contact centre, RESPONSE recently held a fundraising weekend across its Scottish sites and raised a total of £1,200 in aid of little 5 year old terminally ill, Aidan Moir of Erskine.
The brave little boy suffers from ‘Late Infantile Battens Disease’, a degenerative condition which affects the nerves leading to the brain, causing the body to shut down.
Aidan has lost the ability to walk and talk and his sight is failing. Over the coming months, he will completely lose his sight, his ability to eat and drink and in the final stages of his short life he will be bedridden.
The money raised by RESPONSE will help Aidan’s family buy essential equipment to help make his life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He lives with his mum Claire, his dad Paul, his 8-year-old brother Connor and his 3 month-old sister Rebekah.
David Wallace, Chief Executive at RESPONSE commented:
“We are delighted to have been able to help Aidan and give him and his family the opportunity to achieve a better standard of living.
“The money was raised across our Cadogan, Citypoint, Clydebank and Ibrox sites and our staff at all locations were touched by Aidan’s story and very much enjoyed being able to actively help him and his family.”
Battens Disease affects one in every 30,000 people and there is currently no cure. However, stem cell research going on the US has led to some success improving the speech in some patients.
Aidan’s Mum, Claire Moir commented:
“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at RESPONSE. The money they have raised will go towards buying equipment that will really benefit Aidan.”
“We want to do all we can to give Aidan the best life that he deserves, so we are incredibly grateful to people like RESPONSE employees who have been so generous to us.”
